Not the writing itself. Use AI as a strategic thinking partner and a creative collaborator: let it help you pick the hook and the belief shift, write the email yourself, then let it tighten the flow and score the draft. And hand it everything that ISN’T the writing – the setup, the publishing, the button pushing.
I need to confess something:
Over 5 days earlier this year, I used AI to…
– Build not one, but two brand-new products (from scratch)
– Audit and completely rebuild a $40,000 Meta ad campaign
– Develop a process for publishing new pages and posts on my website… without touching WordPress once!
– Speed up my main landing page’s loading time
– Rebuild the entire second half of my email welcome sequence
– And build a custom WordPress plugin.
(And I don’t know how to code. not even a little!)
Before you @ me though…
Here’s what AI did NOT do:
It did not write my emails for me.
(And I don’t think you should be using it that way either)

Look…
I know there’s a HOT debate right now about whether AI is going to “replace” writers and marketers and coaches and all that.
Here’s my take after going fairly deep into this rabbit hole:
AI is not going to write your emails for you.
Not well, anyway.
Not in a way that sounds like a REAL human with REAL opinions who has actually done the work.
But as a strategic thinking partner and a creative writing collaborator?
HELL YES!
To show you what I mean, let me give you a quick peek behind the curtain…
Because I think this will shift how you think about AI entirely.
How do I write emails with AI?
One of the custom AI agents I built is called “The Emerald Email Engine”.
I developed it because I needed a more streamlined process to help me write better emails – especially when I’m feeling short on time.
Here’s how it works:
…
1 – I come up with the rough idea for the email
2 – I hand that to my custom-built agent, which coaches me through selecting the best hooks, belief shifts, and framing for that specific email
3 – I then free-write the email myself based on that strategic foundation (NOTE: you could have it write the email for you if you’d like… but I personally like writing, so I do it myself)
4 – Then, the agent cleans up flow and pacing… but not voice, not ideas, not the actual writing.
5 – I edit it again, and the agent scores it on a scale of 1 to 100.
6 – I send it, and feed my edited version back into the agent so it gets even sharper next time.
…

Now…
Is that “AI writing my emails”?
I don’t think so.
It’s more like having the world’s most patient, most well-read creative director sitting next to you at 11 pm when you’re trying to bang out a Tuesday broadcast.
Does writing with AI make you a worse writer?
And the best part (for me, at least)?
This process is actually making me a better copywriter!
Why?
Because it keeps reminding me of fundamentals I tend to forget.
Principles I learned years ago…
But stopped applying because… life.
It’s like having a sparring partner who never gets tired and never lets you get lazy.
The Emerald Email Engine was just one project.
That same week, I also built two completely new products for Meta Ads:
One is called the Meta Ads Profit Code…
Think of it like my Conversion Operating System (COS)… but specifically for running profitable Facebook and Instagram ads.
And the other is a Cold Traffic Front-End Campaign Setup SOP…
Basically, a step-by-step, click-by-click playbook that tells you (and your AI assistant) exactly how to build a lead gen or sales campaign on Meta in about 30 minutes.
– Which buttons to click
– What to select
– What NOT to select
– How to structure your campaigns, ad sets, ads, and creative based on how Meta’s algorithm actually works right now
And then…
I used these two products to audit my own $40K ad spend…
Rebuilt the entire campaign from scratch…
AND launched a brand new version, driving cold traffic into my list.
(And that night I optimized my landing page speed because that matters A LOT when you’re paying for every click)
Oh, and the WordPress plugin thing?
It lets me publish new pages through a pipeline I designed.
Took about 30 minutes…
Even though I’ve never written a line of code in my life.
What should you hand over to AI instead?
Why I’m telling you all this?
Not to flex.
(Okay, maybe a tiny flex :)
But mostly because I think we’re at this really interesting inflection point where…
The people who figure out how to use AI as a creative multiplier – not a replacement – are going to have an absurd advantage.
Not because the AI is doing the work FOR them….
But because it’s removing the friction from everything that ISN’T the core creative work.
Things like:
The button pushing.
The page publishing.
The campaign setup.
All the technical stuff that used to require hiring a developer or a VA or spending 6 hours on YouTube tutorials.
That stuff just… evaporates.
Which means, you get to spend your actual energy on the stuff that matters:
The strategy, the ideas, the offers, the writing, the selling.
YOU become the Architect…
…and AI becomes the builder that executes your blueprints.
And that’s a future I’m genuinely excited about.
I just wanted to pull back the curtain and show you what “hermit mode” actually looks like from the inside.
How to try this on your next email
1. Write the idea down in one sentence before you open any AI tool. If you can’t, no prompt will fix it.
2. Ask the AI for 3 hooks and the ONE belief this email should shift. Pick one. Argue with it if you disagree.
3. Write the email yourself. Fast and messy is fine.
4. Let the AI fix flow and pacing only. Tell it not to touch your voice, your ideas or your jokes.
5. Keep your edited version. Feed it back next time, so the AI learns what “good” looks like for you.
If you want it to sound like you while it helps, I wrote up how to make AI write like you.
And if you want your AI to think like a seasoned direct response marketer before it touches anything… that’s what my Conversion Operating System (COS) is for. It works with whatever AI you already use – Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini.
